Each New Year brings new beginnings and changes. Why not make this New Year the year to make some changes in your home?
2018 is the year of color, texture, and combining different materials. There are endless ways to incorporate these changes into your home, whether it’s investing in new furniture, incorporating an accent wall, or redesigning an entire room. We’re here to share what will be trending this coming New Year.
Bright white rooms are a fading trend. 2018 is all about incorporating color in unexpected places. Darker, moodier colors bring a more elegant, stylish, and inviting space, whereas white spaces are less intimate and harsh on the eyes. The easiest way to incorporate color into your home: an accent piece of furniture, such as a love seat or a decorative end table.
Painting isn’t the only way to change up your home. A bold move to take in 2018 is incorporating texture in different and unexpected ways. Incorporating texture adds an extra dimension that instantly makes a room more interesting. Make the room more dynamic with shag rugs, leather pieces, glossy surfaces and shiny metals. You can also use texture to create a focal point in the room, like a distressed coffee table or a colorful velvet couch.
Using earthy materials inside the home has been on the rise the last few years and we’re not seeing that trend go away anytime soon. However, in 2018 the trend will shift slightly to mixing the different wood materials with different types of rock counter top, such as granite or marble.
Decorating a room with two tone walls adds dimension to your space, and it compromises both of your favorite colors without having to compromise. The most important thing is to choose complementary colors that go well together. You can choose two neutral colors for a subtler effect, or one neutral shade and one bold shade to make a statement.
